IST Research Contributes to Recommendations for the UN Security Council

Fredericksburg, VA, September 14, 2016 --(PR.com)-- The United Nations University and the Permanent Missions of the United Kingdom and of Liechtenstein to the United Nations invited IST Research to be one of 100 participants in a two-day workshop where ideas were shared and translated into recommendations for the UN Security Council. The resulting report, Fighting Human Trafficking in Conflict: 10 Ideas for Action by the United Nations Security Council “reviews the tools available to the UN Security Council and member states and suggests 10 ideas for action, providing concrete steps for the UN Security Council and its partners to take to sever the link between conflict and slavery.”

Workshop participants represented a diverse mix of organizations from UN entities and national law enforcement agencies to Financial Intelligence Units and the technology sector. IST was invited to provide expertise in and support for the idea of data sharing platforms as a critical tool for identifying and tracking groups of bad actors around the world.

“We are extremely proud to have had the opportunity to lend our voice in a report that will reach the highest levels of those seeking justice for the victims of human trafficking in conflict. This honor validates the work we’ve been doing with our Pulse Platform and the success we’ve had with it so far. This specific image, called "marker," serves as a password and allows your phone to run the application.
