Geiger-Lund Harvesters Reveals the Secret to Machine Harvesting Asparagus

Stockton, CA, April 20, 2016 --(PR.com)-- The secret to machine harvesting is simple.

Don't sort the spears on the machine!

By removing the people on the machine that sort the spears, the cost of harvesting is dramatically reduced.

In order to remove the sorting process from the machine, the spears have to be easily transferred to the existing packing shed operation from the machine. That is not possible if the machine fills a lug box with un-oriented spears. The lug box of entangled randomly oriented spears is extremely difficult to untangle.

One must be able to transfer the harvested spears from the machine to the conveyor belt in the packing shed easily.

To do this, the spears have to be all lined up in the same direction in the asparagus lugs so that the spears can be picked up in bunches by hand and placed on the conveyor belt at the packing shed, as it is done now.

The model OR-2017 selective asparagus harvester orients all of the spears with over 90% of them pointing in the same direction in the lug boxes. This makes it easy for the spears to be grabbed up in bunches and dropped onto the conveyor belt at the shed.

Once the oriented spears are on a conveyor in the packing shed it is easy to sort the spears, throwing out the culls and pointing all of the spears in the same direction.

The OR-2017 will harvest any single row planting of asparagus with row centers of 30 inches or larger and with any bed height.

To make a two or three row harvester just pull two or three machines behind one tractor.

Pull two machines with one tractor and asparagus can be harvested for less than 10 cents per pound!

The probes provide instant visibility into the performance and operation of TDM, VoIP, and Wireless networks. Mr. Yost explained, “Physical Layer monitoring is also available using the capture probes (PSTN, IP). The layer 1 alarms and statistics are sent to the centralized database along with the protocol information of the call or as a stand-alone service. GL’s NetSurveyorWeb™ provides easy viewing of the entire network or the option to drill down to a specific interface. Alarm time stamping, developing alarm trends and trigger-based actions are all features of the product.

“ISDN Layer monitoring provides capturing and analyzing stream of frames on an ISDN PRI links. CDR parameters indicate status of each call i.e. active/completed, duration of completed call, called and calling party number, call reference value (CRV) etc. Summary View displays Device #, Time Slot, Frame #, LAPD information, ISDN Message types and more. Each Call is also depicted by message sequence, which gives ladder diagram of the call flow between the Called and the Calling numbers. This call flow graph allows easy verification of the status and the messages exchanged in a call. Users can highlight any messages in the ladder diagram and observe the corresponding detail decoded message details.”

He further added, “Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and reports provide the user a graphical view of the collected data. These generally will show network summary information, but can also be used to view specific “events of interest”. GL’s NetSurveyorWeb™ provides a very flexible SQL-based query design for KPI configuration. This allows even the most complicated of scenarios to be graphed and monitored. Some of the important KPIs the user can view are: Inbound Vs Outbound Calls, Simultaneous Calls on All Trunks, Trunk-Wise Report, Call Types and Real-time Alarm Notifications and more.”

BroadForward Awarded Best M2M Solution at MVNOs World Congress

According to research firm MarketsandMarkets, the Cellular M2M market will be worth 11.50 Billion USD by 2020.

Enexis, a leading energy company in the Netherlands, became the world’s first Private Virtual Network Operator (PVNO). The launch was enabled by the PVNO platform managed by system integrator CGI and powered by software technology from BroadForward. BBC Use Fiber Media Converters in Mobile Tool-Kit for Live Audio Transmission

TM Robotics and Cornerstone Automation Create Intelligent New Box-Opening Device for European Market

Hertfordshire, United Kingdom, April 21, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Today TM Robotics announced it has partnered with Cornerstone Automation Systems, LLC (CASI) to sell an intelligent box-opening device (IBOD) that combines the reliability of TM Robotics’ Toshiba Machine robots with the ingenuity of CASI’s intelligent box-opening software. Current box-opening options available on the market have limitations. Line workers run the risk of severe hand strains due to repetitive box-opening motions and using knives on conveyor belts can lead to injuries that result in blood on the manufacturing floor, while spinning blades create dust that impacts robots’ productivity and longevity. Companies are looking for a reliable, safe solution that can accommodate the explosive growth of the box-cutting industry – and this partnership delivers on that need.

In a recent report issued by the Centre for Retail Research, e-commerce is noted as the fastest-growing retail market in Europe, with an expected increase in retail spending of 18.4% overall from 2015 to 2016 – which means more boxes will be used. According to CASI, other markets, including retail, pharmacy, and apparel, have also seen an increase in product shipments. More sales being made online and shipped directly to the purchaser’s location increases the possibility of more returns – and with them, more boxes that need to be opened.

“Our European customers have been asking for a safer, more streamlined box-cutting solution for a long time – and this CASI-built IBOD delivers,” said TM Robotics CEO Nigel Smith. “The special integration of our powerful, patented Toshiba Machine robot technology coupled with the sophisticated CASI software brings something to the market that our customers have never seen before – and they’re thrilled.”

The new system, which integrates seamlessly into warehouse logistics, can function at various cutting speeds and controls the length and depth of the cut, including a three- or four-sided cut.

Dual Slide LCD Rackmount Keyboard Drawer Features Full HD Monitor with Font USB Port Design for Easy Data Access

The monitor keyboard with dual slide functionality creates easy and accessible to slide out independently. The 1U high with 22.44 inch depth rackmount drawer features 1920 x 1080 full HD LCD on a 17.3 inch industrial monitor, 106-keys keyboard with touch pad, VGA input, and a front USB port for easy data access. The easy to operate rack console is also easy to access.

Built of heavy duty steel, it is made to be durable and long lasting. The drawer design has a dual ball-bearing slide rails for the monitor and keyboard with touch pad drawers. The monitor and keyboard drawer can slide out separately. The 17.3 inch monitor displays a resolution of 1920 x 1080 with 300nit brightness and 650:1 contrast ratio. The backlight uses LED and displays 16.7 million colors in 8-bit with FRC. The viewing angle is at 140° x 120°, active area is 381.888 x 214.812 mm, and pixel pitch is 0.1989 x 0.1989 mm.

The video input supports VGA but can be upgraded to DVI and HDMI. The USB port is located in the front, designing easy access for data retrieval. Also located in the front panel control are the power on/off switch and On Screen Display. The cable comes with VGA + PS/2 x 2 or VGA + USB x 1 cable. The power supply is 100~240V AC power input.

The dimension of the rackmount drawer is 17.65”(W) x 22.44"(D) x 1.73”(H) and at 28.7 lbs. The operational temperature can withstand from 0° to 50° C (32° to 122° F) with storage temperature at -20° to 60° C (-4° to 140° F). The relative humidity can tolerate from 10-90%, non-condensing.
